Chassagne-Montrachet · Burgundy · France
A small domaine at the top of Chassagne — whites of crystalline precision, made in quantities one can almost count. Biodynamic since 2006, farmed as if each parcel were a garden, and bottled only when Vincent decides they're ready.

From the producer

Quiet, precise Burgundy from Chassagne-Montrachet — a few barrels per climat, bottled unfined, gone before the market notices.
Five hectares, a dozen parcels, whites that taste like they were written in pencil.
Five hectares. A dozen parcels. A cellar the size of a garage, and whites that taste like they were written in pencil.
The estate
Vincent Dancer took over his family's five hectares in 1996 and spent the next decade quietly rebuilding the domaine — vineyard by vineyard, barrel by barrel. He went biodynamic in 2006, stopped using any new oak for village wines shortly after, and has been trimming yields ever since.
The cellar sits under the house in Chassagne — a single low room where Vincent still does almost everything himself. Wines rest on their lees, in old barrels, for a long eighteen months. No batonnage. Bottling happens when the wine, in his words, stops changing.
The holdings are a patchwork of tiny parcels across Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, Puligny, and Pommard — old vines, steep slopes, Kimmeridgian limestone over clay. The whites see first light; the handful of reds come from a single, ancient plot in Pommard Pézerolles.
